Where the Wild Remains

with the island’s last wild places as our guide

Where the wild gives you back your time

Guided by a hundred year purpose to protect and restore the island’s wildernesses for the generations after us, Aranya keeps a handful of places in the most remote, most untouched corners of Sri Lanka.

Our lodges, camps and one private house each reflect the land around them, and make room for guests to slow down, notice more, and remember what matters most.

A quieter calling, and a simpler life

We all feel it: the noise, the screens, the sense that something nameless has gone missing. Somewhere along the way comfort stood in for connection, and presence gave way to distraction.

Out here it comes back. A day ruled by the light, a guide who reads the forest like a page, and the long hush after a leopard walks out of the trees and into the open.

Boots crossed at the end of a hammock slung between trees, the forest light behind.

The trackers of Yala, and the leopards they know by name

Every drive at Aranya Yala goes out with a tracker born in the villages beside the park. Most have followed the same families of leopards for twenty years, and can tell you which cub has just left its mother.

“You don’t find a leopard,” one of them says. “You find the place it is going to be, and wait.”

Explore our collection

Aranya’s four lodges, two camps and one house lie in the island’s most sought after wild places, and serve as the backdrop to encounters that travellers won’t find anywhere else. Few guests, complete privacy and a quiet kind of hospitality let you meet the wild on its own terms.

Northlight noteSix properties, one engine. Every lodge keeps its own rooms and its own seasons, and a guest can move from Wilpattu to Yala in one booking, with the flight between them added as an extra.

Northlight noteA booking bar rises along the foot of the screen once the film has gone, so a guest who has seen enough never has to scroll back up to find it. On a phone the bar along the foot does the same job.
