A bay, a headland and the whale boats at dawn.

Mirissa.

About 2½ hours from Colombo by road.

Mirissa is a curved bay with a palm covered headland at one end and a harbour at the other, from which the whale watching boats leave early in the morning in the season.

Guests come for the beach, the boats and the evenings, often for three or four nights on a longer trip around the island.

The properties

Guesthouses and small hotels near the bay, and villas on the slopes and cliffs above it, where the view over the water is the room’s best feature.

The season

Busiest from December to April, when the sea on this coast is calm. From May to September the southwest monsoon makes it rougher and quieter.

What a site of its own does here.

Most guests plan Mirissa around the whale boats and book weeks ahead, on the same few booking sites as everyone else in the bay. A site of your own, with the sea view photographed at sunrise, gives them a reason to choose you before they compare prices.

We come to Mirissa from Colombo, about 2½ hours away, at our cost, and photograph the property ourselves in the hour after sunrise and the hour before sunset. If the weather is wrong on the day, we come back.

Wherever the property is, we come to you.

Send a photograph of your property in Mirissa and a line about it. We answer the same day, and if we are not the right people for the job we will say so.
